SFI Conducts Surprise Earthquake Drill at Corporate Headquarters

Servicio Filipino, Inc. (SFI) successfully conducted a surprise earthquake drill on September 10, 2026, at its Corporate Headquarters (CHQ). The activity aimed to assess employees’ knowledge, preparedness, and compliance with established emergency procedures.

The drill commenced at exactly 2:00 PM, with approximately 50 employees participating. Upon activation of the first alarm, employees performed the proper “Drop, Cover, and Hold” procedure. The second alarm signaled the orderly evacuation of personnel to the designated assembly area.

All participants reached the assembly area within one minute and 50 seconds. The entire exercise, including evacuation and employee accounting, was completed in four minutes and 50 seconds.

The drill was facilitated by Temps and Staffers Inc. (TSI) Safety Officer Mr. John Ross Ebma and SFI Safety Officer/Manager Mr. Anthony Malazarte. They monitored the employees’ response, observance of safety protocols, and overall execution of the evacuation procedure.

“Earthquake drills are important because they help employees become familiar with the proper actions to take during an emergency. Regular practice reduces panic, improves coordination, and allows us to identify areas that need improvement before an actual incident occurs,” Mr. Anthony emphasized.

As an unannounced exercise, the drill provided a realistic assessment of how employees would respond during an actual earthquake. Observations gathered from the activity will help SFI identify areas for improvement and further strengthen its emergency preparedness and response procedures.
